The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has opened nominations for three seats on the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin until March 29, 2024. Eligible growers will receive nomination forms by mail, which must be signed, notarized, and postmarked by the deadline. Nominees need endorsements from at least five eligible growers, and completed forms should be mailed to DATCP's Market Order Program.
In case growers don't receive nomination forms by March 15, 2024, or have queries, they can contact DATCPMarketOrders@wisconsin.gov. The election for the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin is scheduled from May 10 to June 15, 2024. Successful candidates will serve three-year terms, commencing on July 1, 2024, and concluding on June 30, 2027.
The Ginseng Board of Wisconsin, comprising seven at-large producers, administers the state's Ginseng Marketing Order. With approximately $240,000 in assessment fees from Wisconsin ginseng growers, the board oversees initiatives supporting the industry, including research, education, and the promotion of locally grown ginseng. DATCP manages elections for various commodity marketing boards in Wisconsin, ensuring fair representation and effective administration within the agricultural sector.
