Coordinators of the 2020 state corn grower contest say participants had recorded impressive yields once again this past year. Jeff Laskowski of Plover was the winner of the competition held by the Wisconsin Corn Growers Association with a 302.49 bushel per-acre yield. He was also the top entry from the Northern Wisconsin division.
Allan Schroeder, Rio, won the Columbia County division with 255.79 bushels per acre. Nick Venable, Janesville, had the best yields in Rock County with 279.14 bushels. And Jerry Kreuziger, Juneau, was the Southern Wisconsin regional winner with an average of 266.50 per acre.
Now in its twelfth year, the program awards certificates and cash prizes to the top three yield winners in four divisions. All yields were checked by certified crop consultants and participants were allowed one entry for every WCGA membership they held.
