Wisconsin Milk Production Edges Up in December



Milk production in Wisconsin during December 2022 totaled 2.66 billion pounds, up 1 percent from the previous December according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Milk Production report.

The average number of milk cows during December, at 1.27 million head, was 1,000 below last month and down 5,000 from December 2021. Monthly production per cow averaged 2,095 pounds, up 20 pounds from last December.

Milk production in the 24 major states during December totaled 18.1 billion pounds, up 0.9 percent from December 2021. Production per cow in the 24 major States averaged 2,032 pounds for December, 8 pounds above December 2021
