The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is accepting applications from eligible meat processors for the state’s Meat Processor Infrastructure Grant program through October 15, 2026.
The initiative is designed to strengthen Wisconsin’s meat processing sector while supporting the long-term sustainability of the state’s livestock industry.
“This is the sixth time the Meat Processor Infrastructure Grants will be offered, and since Governor Evers and the legislature created the program, meat processors have used the funds to increase capacity, update infrastructure and improve efficiency," said DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski.
“Meat processors are encouraged to apply for this opportunity and use this program as another tool to reach their processing goals," Romanski added.
Applicants must operate a Wisconsin meat processing facility licensed by DATCP or the U.S. Department of Agriculture and participate in livestock harvesting or meat processing. Proposed projects must expand harvesting capacity or increase production.
Individual grants may provide up to $50,000 for projects lasting no more than two years. Eligible expenses include engineering and architectural services, construction, food safety consulting, equipment purchases and installation, as well as qualifying operating costs tied directly to the project.
Recipients must provide a dollar-for-dollar match, and awards will be determined through a competitive review. DATCP expects to announce grant recipients in the coming months.
