Wisconsin residents can now sign up to receive advance notice of commercial pesticide applications on neighboring properties. The landscape pesticide registry is a free service offered by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).
To register, visit the DATCP website and enter the addresses you want to receive notifications for. You can register addresses on your block or adjacent blocks.
The registry will take effect on March 15, 2024, and pesticide applicators will be required to notify registrants at least 12 hours in advance of treating nearby properties.
The registry only applies to commercial landscape applications and does not apply to homeowners or landlords who do their own pesticide applications, pesticide applications to buildings, or pesticide use in agriculture.
“Pesticide” is a broad term that can include herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. To learn more about the landscape pesticide registry, visit DATCP website . The registry is a service offered by DATCP. For the 2023 growing season, more than 4,500 addresses were registered to receive notice.
