Many local students were chosen to receive scholarship money from the National Dairy Shine for the coming school year. The group will provide 39 scholarships totaling $44,500, which will be presented at this year's NDS Awards Banquet at World Dairy Expo on September 30.
Among the NDS Senior Student Recognition Scholarship recipients for $1000 are Cady McGehee of Elkhart Lake, attending Virginia Tech; and Brock Irwin of Belvidere, Illinois, who is attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Gaelan Combs of Verona, attending UW-Madison, will earn the $1,000 Merton Sowerby Junior Merit Scholarships.
One of the recipients of the $1,500 NDS / DMI Education & Communication Scholarships will be Ashley Hagenow of Poynette, pursuing a major at the University of Minnesota. Other undergraduates are being rewarded with $1000 scholarships are Amelia Hayden from Sharon, University of Minnesota; and Brianna and Mikayla Peper of Osceola, also attending University of Minnesota.
Wisconsin students earning the Maurice Core Scholarship for $1,000 are Elise Bleck from Glenbeulah, attending UW-Madison; and Ben Styer of Menomonie, University of Minnesota.
