WPA and UW Extension Announce 2026 Show Pig Symposium

By Blake Jackson

The Wisconsin Pork Association (WPA), in partnership with the UW-Madison Division of Extension, will host a Show Pig Symposium on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The event will be held at the UW-Madison Arlington Research Station Public Events Building, located at N633 Hopkins Rd., Arlington, Wisconsin. The symposium is designed for show pig breeders, exhibitors, and members of the allied industry.

This one-day educational program will feature expert-led sessions, valuable networking opportunities, and a large trade show highlighting top industry suppliers.

The agenda will focus on critical aspects of show pig production and exhibition, offering practical information for both experienced and beginning participants.

Presentation topics will include show pig nutrition, jackpot show preparation, vet-client-patient relationships (VCPR), breeder-client communication, strategies for achieving the “WOW” factor in the show ring, and an educational session titled Poop on the Move: Tracking Nature’s Flow and Swine’s Role, along with additional industry-focused discussions.

Attendees will also have access to a dedicated show pig trade show featuring the latest products and services related to genetics, feed and nutrition, animal health, housing systems, and show supplies.

"This symposium is an unparalleled opportunity for anyone passionate about the show pig industry to gain actionable knowledge and connect with peers and industry leaders," said Jeff Morris, UW Madison Division of Extension Swine Outreach Specialist.

"Whether you're a seasoned show pig breeder or just starting out, the information shared here will provide invaluable insights to elevate your program and ensure your success inside and out of the ring."

The event is free to attend. Registration is required by February 14, 2026, at https://wppa.org/youth/youth-show-pig-symposium/.
