WSFP Board Making Plans for 2021 State Fair

The chairman of the Wisconsin State Fair Park Board says plans are in motion to hold the 2021 Wisconsin State Fair in person this summer. According to Brownfield Ag News, John Yingling told the State Senate Agriculture Committee on Wednesday that board members recently passed a series of goals for the coming year, including the task of opening the fairgrounds in West Allis for the state fair in August.

"We're very encouraged by what we see in terms of every announcement on vaccinations and where we are with overall COVID case numbers," he told the committee.

Last May, Yingling was given the authority by the board to determine the fate of the 2020 fair, in which he made the decision to cancel it. Fair enthusiasts who had already purchased admission tickets during holiday sales promotions were then given the option to have their money refunded or applied toward the 2021 fair.

The Wisconsin State Fair is considered to be the largest event in the state, drawing more than a million people over the course of 11 days.

The Wisconsin State Fair is currently scheduled for August 5-15, 2021.
