USDA Offers Loans for Producers Impacted by Natural Disasters
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/23/2020

Wisconsin farmers in certain counties who lost property this summer due to recent natural disasters may be eligible for USDA physical loss loans. The Farm Service Agency is offering these low-interest loans for losses caused by flash flooding that occurred June 28-29.

The FSA says producers in Dunn, Pierce and St. Croix Counties that incurred damages from excessive rain may apply for emergency loans, along with farmers in contiguous counties of Barron, Chippewa, Eau Claire, Pepin and Polk.

"Wisconsin's hardworking ag producers feed our neighbors, the nation and the world," said State FSA Director Sandy Chalmers. "When they suffer losses because of extreme weather, helping them get back on their feet is important. We encourage those affected to reach out to their local USDA Service Center to apply for these emergency loans."

Approval is limited to applicants who suffered severe physical losses only, including the loss of buildings and livestock.

Applications are due May 11, 2021.
