Maple Syrup Producers to Hold Winter Institute

The Wisconsin Maple Syrup Producers Association is holding its annual winter institute next month to update members and producers about new trends and issues facing their industry. The two-day forum is being planned for January 11-12 at Hotel Marshfield in Marshfield, where the theme will be 'Education Ourselves for the Future.'

Gary Graham from Ohio State University Extension will be the main speaker. He will talk about Sugarhouse Esthetics and other various issues in the maple industry. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture will send a representative to discuss maple regulations, licensing and inspections. And there will also be a wide range of speakers discussing topics like proper labeling, R.O.s and technology, value added products, business amenities, how to write a recall plan, sugarbush Taxes, proper sugar bush insurance, and much more.

A trade show, award presentations and the Maple Queen Coronation will also be held during the conference.

The cost to attend is $40 for WMSPA members, $65 for non-members, and $15 for students.
