Workshop on Tile Drainage Designs Slated for Late-February
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/12/2020

The University of Wisconsin Division of Extension is teaming up with the University of Illinois Extension to offer a Tile Drainage Design and Water Management Workshop on February 27-28 in Jefferson. The meeting is a unique opportunity for farmers who are installing their own drainage systems and drain tile contractors to learn the latest in drainage system design, conservation drainage, and how to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Discussion will cover surveying basics, drainage co-efficient and lateral spacing, drainage permits and regulations, safety concerns, drainage outlets and ditches, lift stations and more. The workshop will also include Wisconsin and Illinois breakouts to discuss state-specific regulations in more depth.

Featured speakers include attorney Larry Konopacki with Stafford Rosenbaum LLP discussing drainage law and rights, drainage experts John Panuska of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Richard Cooke of the University of Illinois Extension overviewing drainage design, and Eric Cooley of the Wisconsin Discovery Farms program reviewing drainage permits and regulations, among others.

The two-day program will be held at the Jefferson County Extension office in Jefferson. The cost, including lunch both days, is $225. Registration is only $200 for those who register on or before February 24.
