UWRF Western Team Places Second at IHSA Nationals

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Western Team came home as the runners-up in the AQHA National Intercollegiate Horse Competition this month. The team earned 41 points to secure this top placement in Syracuse, New York.

Nine schools, including UW-River Falls, advanced to the IHSA National Western Team Competition by finishing Top 3 at one of the three semi-finals held across the country in March. The UWRF Western Team included Libby Alders, Kendyl Bennett, Emily Edwards, Danielle Paulson, and Krista Schoenfelder.

Alders was named Reserve National Champion in Team Intermediate Horsemanship. Edwards was Reserve National Champion in Team Beginner Horsemanship. And Schoenfelder was the National Champion in Team Advanced Horsemanship.

Meanwhile, Madeleine Olson of the UWRF Hunt Seat Team qualified for IHSA Nationals in the Intermediate Flat Class event, where she placed fourth overall.

The team was coached by Janie Huot.
