Mueller Earns 2019 PEI Professional Engineer of the Year Award

Scott Mueller, P.E., of the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service in Wisconsin has received the PEI Professional Engineer of the Year Award at the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers International Meeting in Boston this summer. He was recognized for his outstanding engineering technical leadership for the NRCS and for his service to ASABE in ethics, standards and professional engineering exam development.

Mueller is the assistant state conservation engineer with the NRCS in Madison. In his position, he provides engineering technical leadership statewide on hydrology, hydraulics, soil materials, geology and structural design. Mueller has made many important technical contributions to the profession of agricultural and biological engineering and he has provided guidance, oversight and engineering tools encouraging land conservation in Wisconsin.

A 33-year life member of ASABE, Mueller has been an active member within several committees of the Education, Outreach and Professional Development technical community, including the Professional Ethics Committee. As a leader of the Ethics Committee, Mueller has organized special technical sessions, interactive workshops, student video competitions and other activities to promote ethics in engineering practices. He also works to improve overall practical knowledge of ethics and strives to provide professional development opportunities for professional engineers.

The ASABE is an international professional society devoted to agricultural and biological engineering. The PEI Professional Engineer of the Year Award honors a licensed engineer who has made outstanding contributions to the engineering profession, the public welfare and humankind.
