This is Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Week
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/27/2021

The Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Association is celebrating Agricultural Tourism Week this week. The group is using the occasion to promote its members, which include many groups and enterprises such as farmers, bakers, cheesemakers, farmers markets, wineries, breweries, distilleries, corn mazes, wedding venues, historic agriculture, petting farms, farm stay vacations and orchards.

Gov. Tony Evers noted in a proclamation that Wisconsin is home to more than 64,000 farms on 14.3 million acres of land. The industry also provides over 435,000 jobs in Wisconsin, which equates to 12 percent of the state's entire workforce.

"Wisconsin's agricultural industry has also historically generated millions of dollars for our tourism industry," Evers said. "Our state's dedicated agricultural tourism businesses will continue to drive business impact sales by offering visitors outdoor, socially-distance, family-friendly, and experimental festivals, farm stays, events, weddings and more."

The WATA promotes and preserves the rural lifestyle, fosters partnership opportunities within the ag-tourism community, and provides tools which encourage sustainable economic growth while creating awareness of Wisconsin agriculture.
