Two Wisconsin Junior Holstein members have been honored during the National Holstein Convention in Lancaster, Pennsylvania this week with the organization's most prestigious award for youth. Josh Gerbitz and Ben Kronberg, both from Milton, were among six students from across the country to be honored as Distinguished Junior Member Finalists.
Contestants were judged on an entry book that includes the member's project work and involvement with activities in the Holstein industry. Only 12 members in the nation are eligible to compete in the semi-final round.
Nicole Broege of Janesville also competed as a semi-finalist for the award.
Meanwhile, the Polk County Senior Dairy Bowl Team took first place in that event. Participants were Katherine Elwood, Grace Haase, Marie Haase, and Courtney Glenna. The junior team, represented by Wood County, placed fifth in the contest. And Brianna Meyer was the runner-up in the senior Prepared Speaking Contest.
