The family of Jeff Hicken will be presented with a VIP Citation in his honor during the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this fall. Hicken served the past 15 years as Wisconsin's FFA Advisor and Ag Ed Consultant with the Department of Public Instruction until his passing on June 16.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Jeff began his career as an agricultural instructor and FFA advisor at Sauk Prairie High School in 1998. He earned many awards during his career, including the distinction of Wisconsin High School Teacher of the Year in 2003. He was also a member of the National FFA Board of Directors.
Also at the convention, five other adults from Wisconsin will be presented with the Honorary American FFA Degree. They include Retired Columbus High School Ag Teacher Glenda Crook; Case IH Executive Ryan Schaefer; Michelle Stuttgen and Alison Wedig of Culver Franchising System; and Ag Professor Doris Mold of Cumberland.
The National FFA Convention & Expo will take place October 27-30.
