Wisconsin's dairy checkoff program is spreading the word about National Cheese Curd Day, which is being held on October 15. Suzanne Fanning, a marketing officer with the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, encourages all cheese lovers to grab a bag of squeaky curds and get in on the fun.
"Wisconsinites are truly obsessed with cheese, and while we tout some of the most awarded cheeses in the world, we know there is a unique fascination with our cheese curds," Fanning said. "Many restaurants across the state sell more cheese curds than French fries and nearly every Wisconsinite can tell you which restaurant makes their favorite fried cheese curd. This is our day to celebrate, and we are excited to share our love for all things curds with the rest of the country."
Consumers can also celebrate the day picking up cheese curds at their local grocery or convenience store. And Culver's is getting in on the action once again by offering their special CurderBurger for a limited time later in the month. Last year, the restaurant sold 136,000 of the burgers in just one day at its 800 stores.
