Steve Springer of Linden has been honored as Cattleman of the Year by the Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association. During the group's annual summer tour this month, the third-generation beef farmer from Iowa County was recognized for his contributions to the industry.
Springer runs a commercial cow-calf operation with nearly 250 cows. He is heavily involved in the industry as a member of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association, and Iowa County Cattlemen's Association. He also served on the board of directors for both the Wisconsin and Iowa County Cattlemen; is Beef Quality Assurance certified and actively participates in both state and national cattlemen's educational programs.
Also at the gathering, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneer Farm was honored with the Environmental Stewardship Award. The Beef Quality Assurance Award was given to Jim and Roxanne Lund of K-Lund Angus near Woodville.
And the 2022 Friend of Cattlemen award went to Craig and Vickie Dunnum of Westby.
