The National Mastitis Council has honored six producers with Platinum National Dairy Quality Awards this week, of which five are from Wisconsin. The honors were presented during a virtual program held in conjunction with the NMC 60th annual meeting on Wednesday.
Wisconsin recipients include Blue Star Dairy Middleton LLC, Middleton; Christop Dairy, Shiocton; Country Aire Farms, Kaukauna; Riverside Dairy LLC, Reedsville; and the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield Ag Research Station, Stratford.
In addition, there were 19 gold-ranked herds recognized, including Wisconsin's Clover View Dairy LLC, Manitowoc; Endres Berryridge Farms LLC, Waunakee; G&N Endres Farms LLC, Waunakee; Rusk Rose Holsteins, Inc., Ladysmith; and Theisen Family Farm, Campbellsport.
Silver-ranked farms for milk quality from the Badger State were Dorner Farms, Luxemburg; Gold Star Dairy Farm, New Holstein; Kleinhans Dairy Farm, Kiel; Me Pa Ni Tro Dairy Farm Inc., Plum City; and Siegmund Farm LLC, Kewaunee.
Now in its 27th year, the NDQA program's purpose is to recognize dairy producers across the United States who have successfully placed a high priority on producing high-quality milk. Veterinarians, dairy plant field staff, dairy suppliers and Extension agents nominated more than 120 dairy producers for the awards.
