The Wisconsin Pork Association has selected four individuals to participate in its Pork Mentorship Program this year. Mia Hillebrand, Lone Rock; Hailey Schulenberg, Mount Horeb; Michelle Stangler, Watertown; and Essie Whitehead, Amery were chosen to take part in the year-long initiative.
Hillebrand is currently a freshman attending Southwest Technical College studying Agriculture Business and Technology-Animal Science. She plans to continue her education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for a bachelor's degree in Agriculture Education. Schulenberg is a freshman at UW-Platteville studying Agricultural & Technology Education. Stangler is studying Agricultural Marketing and Communications as a freshman at UW-River Falls. And Whitehead is a sophomore at UWRF, where she is majoring in Animal Science.
The Mentorship Program is designed to expand participants' knowledge of the swine industry through hands-on experiences and job shadows, involvement in pork industry programs, and partaking in WPA activities.
Upon successful completion of the program, the selected participants will receive a $500 scholarship to apply towards their education expenses.
