Eastern Wisconsin Manure Spill Reaches Area Waterways
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/13/2018
A large manure spill near Ashwaubenon on Tuesday has reportedly reached Silver Creek on the Oneida reservation. Brown County authorities say the spill happened on a farm near the Outagamie/Brown County line.
Reports say about 300,000 gallons of manure were released into the grassy waterways at the Phil Robertson Farm. Cleanup efforts began immediately, but local environmental agencies say the incident has resulted in some fishkill.
The Robertson Farm is not large enough to be classified as a concentrated animal feeding operation, but the Oneida Nation is monitoring water quality as a precaution.
Local residents are being advised not to swim or play around the areas contaminated by the manure spill.
