D-SNAP Approved for Arkansas Disaster Areas to Support Recovery

D-SNAP Approved for Arkansas Disaster Areas to Support Recovery

By Jamie Martin

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) assistance for over 11,000 households in Arkansas impacted by recent severe storms. This assistance is available to help families with grocery costs during their recovery process.

D-SNAP allows individuals who may not usually qualify for SNAP to receive temporary food aid after a disaster. The program provides one month of benefits, equal to the maximum monthly amount for a household of their size, which can be used to purchase food at authorized retailers.

Eligible households in 14 Arkansas counties, including Pulaski, Saline, Sharp, and others, can apply for assistance from July 14 to July 20, 2025. The USDA has made the application process accessible via both in-person and telephonic methods. Local media outlets will share additional details on application locations and times.

To qualify, households must live or work in a designated disaster area, be affected by the storm, and meet the D-SNAP eligibility criteria. The program ensures that families can meet their temporary food needs as they start rebuilding their lives.

Residents can get more information about applying for D-SNAP by visiting the Arkansas Department of Human Services website or calling 2-1-1 for further assistance. Additionally, Arkansas residents already receiving SNAP benefits can request supplemental support to increase their monthly allotment to the maximum amount.

USDA continues to work with state and local officials to ensure that affected families receive quick and efficient help.
