The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation (WFBF) and the Badger State Sheriffs' Association (BSSA) have joined forces to address the critical issue of mental health in rural communities.
This partnership aims to expand the reach of WFBF's Farm Neighbors Care campaign, which provides support and resources to farmers and their families.
“Farmers are the backbone of Wisconsin, but they face unique challenges that can take a toll on their mental health,” said WFBF President Brad Olson. “This partnership is critical in extending our Farm Neighbors Care message to rural areas. By joining forces, we are committed to breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health and providing support to those working tirelessly to feed our communities.”
Through this collaboration, county sheriffs across the state will have access to resources for those struggling with mental health, including farmers, veterans, and children.
Together, they will raise awareness of mental health challenges and provide practical tools for individuals in need.
“The Wisconsin Badger State Sheriffs’ Association is honored to team up with the Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s Farm Neighbors Care campaign to assist as a conduit and ensure those in need of mental health services are identified and given the resources they need.” said Executive Director of the Badger State’s Sheriffs’ Association John Gossage. “Wisconsin sheriffs serve a large rural population and interact with many citizens on a daily basis.”
WFBF's Farm Neighbors Care campaign focuses on providing accessible resources and fostering a supportive community for farmers. With the support of law enforcement, the campaign can further promote mental health resources and connect individuals with mental health professionals and local services.
