Kaelyn Sumner promotes beekeeping at WHPA convention

Kaelyn Sumner, the 2024 American Honey Queen, will be visiting the La Crosse area from October 28th to November 2nd. Kaelyn Sumner visit coincides with the Wisconsin Honey Producers Association's (WHPA) annual convention at the Stoney Creek Hotel in Onalaska.

During her stay, Kaelyn will engage with local schools, speaking about the significance of beekeeping and honeybee pollination in Wisconsin and the United States.

Kaelyn Sumner will also participate in the WHPA's Annual Kids & Bees Expo, a hands-on learning experience for children of all ages.

Honeybees play a crucial role in our food supply, pollinating a vast array of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and legumes. Their pollination services contribute approximately $15 billion annually to U.S. agriculture.

Kaelyn Sumner, a 21-year-old from Cecil, Wisconsin, is a senior at Kansas State University majoring in Agricultural Education with minors in Food Science and Entomology.

Kaelyn Sumner passion for beekeeping began during her FFA involvement, where she excelled in specialty animal production and agriscience fair research.

As the 2024 American Honey Queen, Kaelyn serves as a national spokesperson for the American Beekeeping Federation. She has traveled extensively throughout the United States, promoting the honey industry through speaking engagements, media interviews, and events.

Prior to her national role, Kaelyn served as the 2023 Wisconsin Honey Queen, advocating for the honey industry within the state.
