Join Wisconsin Agroforestry Event at Good Trouble Grove

By Blake Jackson

The Wisconsin Agroforestry Demonstration Farm Network led by the Savanna Institute in partnership with NRCS-WI and the Wisconsin Farmers Union (WFU) invite farmers, landowners, and community members to a special event on Tuesday, July 29, in Green Lake, WI.

The gathering will be held at Good Trouble Grove, the agroecological farm of WFU members Shelly Rothman and Jorg Diekmann.

This engaging afternoon and evening event will focus on tree-based agriculture and community-building. Activities begin at 3:00 PM with an in-depth workshop titled Starting Trees From Seed, offering practical knowledge for aspiring agroforesters.

At 5:00 PM, guests can enjoy a potluck dinner and time to connect attendees are encouraged to bring a side dish to share.

At 6:30 PM, the event continues with a Silvopasture Farm Walk, where Shelly and Jorg will guide visitors through their farm and discuss how they integrate livestock, trees, and pasture. The walk will highlight regenerative techniques and the careful planning behind their silvopasture system.

"We're excited to welcome folks out to Good Trouble Grove," said Shelly Rothman. "Our silvopasture farm is a great example of a different kind of agriculture, perennial agriculture, that benefits both the ecosystem and local community. We hope folks leave with a sense of what is possible and feeling more connected to the land and one another!"

All are welcome, including children with adult supervision.
