Wisconsin cattle producers - learn about EID

Wisconsin cattle producers - learn about EID

By Blake Jackson

On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 7 to 8 PM, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension is hosting a virtual meeting aimed at cattle producers and those involved in the allied industry.

This informative session will focus on the transition to electronic identification (EID) for disease traceability, featuring Dr. Gretchen May, a Veterinary Program Manager from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.

The meeting will be conducted online and is free of charge, providing a valuable opportunity for participants across various counties in Wisconsin to learn more about implementing EID systems in their operations.

EID technology enhances the ability to trace livestock in the event of disease outbreaks, which is crucial for maintaining the health of the herd and ensuring food safety.

No registration is required to attend this session, making it accessible to a wide audience. Participants will gain insights into the benefits and logistics of adopting electronic identification practices, fostering improved animal health management.

For further inquiries, individuals can reach out to Sandy Stuttgen via email at sandra.stuttgen@wisc.edu or by phone at 715-748-3327. This meeting represents a significant step towards modernizing livestock management in Wisconsin.
