Despite tough times in the farm economy, dairy producers and industry leaders have helped raise a record $76,504 for the Professional Dairy Producers Foundation. As part of its second annual 'Plant a Seed. Inspire a Dream' campaign, the group will now be able to reinvest those contributions through education programs that grow the next generation of dairy leaders.
For the past several months, PDPF board members Brian Forrest, Sam Schwoeppe, Russ Warmka and Steve Vale led opposing teams to raise money in a friendly online competition.
"These volunteers did a phenomenal job motivating friends of dairy to give to the work of the Foundation," said PDPF Director Janet Keller. "Without their consistent efforts to build new relationships with dairy producers and allied industry members, we wouldn't be able to continue to invest and grow the people of dairy."
The PDPF will use a large portion of those funds to help awards dollars for qualified educational programs in the form of grants. Organizations may apply for up to $5,000 to help implement ideas in educating consumers about the importance of the dairy industry.
The deadline to apply for grant funding is June 1. Grant criteria and an application package is available at: www.dairyfoundation.org
