According to the latest USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service Agricultural Prices report, the average price farmers in Wisconsin received for corn in December 2024 was $4.03 per bushel. This marks an increase of 13 cents from November but remains 47 cents lower than the price recorded in December 2023.
Soybean prices averaged $9.53 per bushel in December, reflecting a 20-cent decrease from November and a significant drop of $3.47 compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, oat prices averaged $3.23 per bushel, down 89 cents from November and 3 cents lower than December 2023.
The overall price of hay in Wisconsin averaged $140.00 per ton in December, representing a $6.00 decline from November and $8.00 less than December 2023.
Alfalfa hay was priced at $152.00 per ton, which is $5.00 lower than the previous month and $35.00 below the previous year.
Other hay prices dropped to $93.00 per ton, reflecting a $10.00 decrease from November and a $55.00 decline from December 2023.
Milk prices averaged $22.40 per cwt in December, 50 cents lower than November but $3.40 higher than the previous year. As of January 1, 2025, dairy herd replacement cows were priced at an average of $2,860 per head.
