Dairy farmers looking to improve their forage management strategies are invited to attend an educational workshop hosted by UW-Madison Division of Extension educators.
Scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the event will take place at the UW-Whitewater Community Engagement Center, located at 1260 W Main Street, Whitewater, WI.
This workshop aims to equip dairy farmers with practical techniques to enhance forage quality, optimize feed efficiency, and improve overall farm profitability.
Topics covered will include feed management strategies, proper feed storage, planting and managing alfalfa, green feeding techniques, and more.
Leading the presentations will be Dr. Luiz Ferraretto, an expert in ruminant nutrition, and Dr. Martha Moura Kohmann, a specialist in forage systems agroecology, both from UW-Madison. Joining them are Josh Kamps, a regional crops and soils educator, and M.S. Alison Pfau, a bilingual regional dairy educator.
Pre-registration is required by February 20, 2025, and the cost to attend is $10, which includes dinner and workshop materials. Farmers interested in improving their forage practices should not miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights from industry experts.
