Wisconsin Potato Board Seeks Nominations by March 27

By Blake Jackson

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is inviting nominations for three open seats on the Wisconsin Potato Industry Board. Potato growers in Districts 1, 2, and 3 are eligible to nominate candidates or be nominated themselves. Nominations will be accepted through March 27, 2026.

Eligible growers should have received a nomination form by mail. Those who have not can request a form by emailing DATCP’s Market Orders program staff at DATCPMarketOrders@wisconsin.gov.

Each form must include signatures from at least five qualified potato growers from the nominee’s district, excluding the nominee, and must also include a completed Declaration of Eligibility found on the form.

Completed forms must be postmarked by March 27, 2026, and mailed to: Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, Market Orders Program, PO Box 8911, Madison, WI 53708-8911.

The open board seats represent the following regions: District 1 covers northern counties including Ashland, Barron, Brown, Door, and Eau Claire; District 2 includes Marathon, Outagamie, Portage, Shawano, Waupaca, and Waushara; District 3 encompasses southern and central counties such as Adams, Dane, Dodge, Jefferson, Milwaukee, Racine, Rock, Waukesha, and Wood.

The election for the Wisconsin Potato Industry Board will be held from May 11 to June 15, 2026, and those elected will serve a three-year term from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2029.

This process ensures that potato growers across the state have a voice in board decisions that guide the industry’s growth, development, and representation.
