The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is inviting the public to provide input on the updated Wisconsin Wildlife Action Plan for 2025-2035.
Originally published in 2005 and revised in 2015, the Wildlife Action Plan is a voluntary framework designed to protect rare and declining species and their habitats. It also ensures Wisconsin remains eligible for federal funding through the State Wildlife Grant Program, the nation’s only program focused on preventing species from becoming endangered.
Over the years, the plan has served as a valuable guide for conservation partners, organizations, and individuals, helping them identify and carry out actions to maintain healthy populations of native plants, animals, and habitats.
The recent update reflects more than a year of collaboration, during which stakeholders were given opportunities to share knowledge, provide technical input, and help shape conservation priorities for the next decade.
The DNR encourages residents to review the updated plan and contribute their feedback. Input from the public is essential to strengthen conservation efforts and ensure effective strategies are in place to protect Wisconsin’s wildlife.
For more details and to explore the updated plan, visit the Wisconsin Wildlife Action Plan webpage. Questions or comments on the plan can be emailed to DNRWWAP@wisconsin.gov by September 24, 2025.
