Equity Livestock Awards Scholarship Money to Students

The Baraboo-based Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association has announced the names of this year's college scholarship recipients. The co-op is offering ten $1,000 scholarships for students attending a college or university, and two $750 technical education scholarships.

The scholarships are funded by Equity and distributed through Cooperative Network's Federated Youth Foundation. To be eligible, students or their parents are patron members of Equity Livestock. Applicants must have completed at least two semesters at a post secondary college, university or technical school, as well as maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.

Winning $1,000 scholarship recipients include:

** Grace Link, Deerfield, studying agricultural communications at Iowa State University

** Benjamin Bruss, Markesan, studying dairy science at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville

** Brandon Biese, Chilton, studying dairy science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison

** Collin Wussow, Cecil, studying agricultural business at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls

** Jillian Tyler, Granton, studying agricultural education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls

** Abigail George, Mondovi, studying ag business/ag marketing and communications at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls

** Clarisa Cleven, Kendall, studyiny agricultural education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls

** Molly Minder, Browntown, studying agribusiness at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville

** Tara Liegel, Loganville, studying accounting and fi nance at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater

** Max Dach, Viroqua, studying animal science/livestock and meat production at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Winning $750 technical college scholarships are:

** Brooklynn Hollis, German Valley, Illinois, studying dairy science at Highland Community College.

** Brandon Gilbertson, Elk Mound, studying dairy science at Northeast Iowa Community College.

Applicants were judged on their scholastic achievement, extra curricular activities, leadership abilities, academic and personal goals, and an essay summarizing educational goals and future career plans.
