The Wisconsin Pork Association (WPA) is excited to announce the return of their Youth Pig Project Scholarship program! This initiative is designed to support young people interested in raising pigs through 4-H or FFA programs.
The scholarships aim to not only offset project costs but also cultivate valuable life skills and potential career paths within Wisconsin's pork industry.
Open to 4-H and FFA members aged 9 to 19 (as of January 1, 2025), the program offers $100 scholarships across three age groups. Funding comes from generous support by swine breeders and industry partners throughout the state. The WPA's goal is to award at least 50 scholarships this year.
Beyond financial assistance, the program emphasizes youth development. Selected participants will attend an educational webinar to receive their scholarship funds.
This session will delve deeper into swine production, highlight the industry's commitment to responsible animal care (WeCare), and explore other opportunities within the pork sector.
Interested young people can download the application form from the WPA website (www.wppa.org/youth-pig-project/). Alternatively, they can call the WPA office at 608-723-7551 to request a mailed copy. Completed applications must be submitted via email at wppa@wppa.org or postmarked by February 1, 2025.
The WPA website also serves as a platform for recognizing program sponsors. If you or your business are interested in supporting the Youth Pig Project Scholarship Program, you have until February 1, 2025, to express your interest.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to Wisconsin's thriving pork industry!
