Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/17/2023

Ashley Schlender of Jefferson County and Heidi Slinkman of Wood County have been appointed to the Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s Promotion and Education Committee. Their terms begin at WFBF’s Annual Meeting and Young Farmer and Agriculturist Conference in December. WFBF President Kevin Krentz expressed excitement about their appointment, highlighting their wealth of knowledge and perspectives.

Ashley Schlender, along with her husband and sons, operates a robotic dairy farm and custom chopping business in Watertown. Growing up on a dairy farm, she has actively shared her agricultural love through roles like 4-H general leader, teacher, and Jefferson County Farm Bureau volunteer.

Heidi Slinkman, a cranberry grower from Wisconsin Rapids, has served as the business manager for her family's Gaynor Cranberry Company for 17 years. Passionate about family, farm, and community, she currently serves as Wood County Farm Bureau Promotion and Education chair.

Additionally, Brenda Dowiasch from Eau Claire County and Steve Mueller from St. Croix County were re-appointed to the committee for a second term.

The Promotion and Education Committee, comprising nine leaders representing Wisconsin Farm Bureau districts, focuses on developing, implementing, and promoting projects that enhance awareness and understanding of agriculture while providing leadership development for the agricultural community. The program is funded by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation. The new appointees, along with the re-appointed members, will contribute to the committee's mission to strengthen agricultural education and outreach in Wisconsin.
