Join Beef Practices at Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Tour

By Blake Jackson

Beef producers from across Wisconsin are invited to attend the Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association’s annual Summer Production Tour on Saturday, June 28. The event promises a day of education, networking, and exploring innovative practices in the beef industry.

The tour will begin at Adams Land and Cattle near Lake Geneva. This fourth-generation family farm has deep roots in Wisconsin agriculture, originally starting in 1952 as a dairy operation with cash crops.

Dave and Sherry Adams, along with their children Kimberly, Stacey, and Andrew, manage approximately 1,500 acres of corn, soybeans, and hay.

Their beef herd includes around 180 head, consisting of purebred Angus, Charolais, crossbred cattle, and dairy-cross calves. The family also collaborates with the Wisconsin Beef Council to host farm-to-fork tours, helping connect consumers to local beef production.

Next, the group will visit The DeLong Co. Inc. in Clinton. A sixth-generation agribusiness, DeLong has served farmers and communities since 1913.

Operating across six divisions-agronomy, seed, grain, exports, transport, and wholesale, the company is recognized for its leadership in grain storage, fertilizer production, and identity-preserved grain exports. With 39 facilities across seven states, DeLong remains committed to cultivating prosperity for future generations.

The tour will then stop at Country Pride Meats, also in Clinton. Established in 2009, this custom meat processor handles a variety of livestock, including beef, hogs, lambs, goats, bison, and elk.

Country Pride is well-known for their extensive bratwurst selection and in-house sausages. Attendees will learn about meat marketing and value-added strategies and enjoy a lunch featuring Philly Cheese Steak Beef Brats and burgers.

The final stop will be Blueprint Genetics LLC in Janesville. This facility focuses on maximizing herd genetics through donor housing, embryo transfer (ET), and in-vitro fertilization (IVF) services.

The team prioritizes cattle's comfort and health with expert nutrition and veterinary support. Guests will conclude the tour with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.

The $50 registration fee includes meals, with a group discount available. Visit https://www.wisconsincattlemen.com/events/summer-tour for more details or contact WCA with questions at 608-228-1457 or info@wisconsincattlemen.com.
