Emmi Roth opens new cheese facility
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/30/2023

Emmi Roth, a leading specialty cheesemaker, has officially opened its new 158,000-square-foot headquarters and state-of-the-art conversion facility in Stoughton, Wisconsin. The new facility will cup, bag, wedge, shred, and crumble the company's cheese products for a variety of leading brands.

The new facility will enable Emmi Roth to control more of its supply chain and improve the U.S. cheese industry's overall conversion landscape. It will also reduce the amount of fuel and emissions spent transporting cheeses, making it the company's single biggest sustainability project to date.

"With conversion now within our supply chain, the new facility will drive for growth opportunities to our great portfolio of cheeses, strengthen our value add to customers, and increase our ability to service customers," said Jordan Ehlen, Director of Manufacturing at Emmi Roth.

The facility is also all-electric and designed to minimize physical stress from lifting and bending for employees. By February, as many as 175 people will be working at the facility, and Emmi Roth has already hired 85 new employees for the facility, with plans to hire an additional 40 before February.

"The startup of the new facility is in full swing," said Ehlen. "Our team is really engaged and has taken on the challenges of the new facility with great pride and perseverance."
