Pork lovers and chefs rejoice! The #100kPorkChop competition is searching for the best pork chop in the Washington D.C. area. Hosted by the Virginia Pork Council with backing from other organizations, this contest offers a grand prize of $100,000 to the winning restaurant.
Restaurants located around the Capital Beltway are invited to participate. The competition has two stages. In the first phase, from June 19th to July 3rd, the public gets to taste and vote for their favorite pork chop creation at participating restaurants. All the contenders will be revealed on June 19th on the competition website.
The public vote will determine finalists (3 to 5 restaurants), who will then battle it out in front of a judging panel of culinary professionals and pork producers in July. The winner will be announced on July 23rd, along with the donation of $100,000 worth of pork products to local food banks.
This competition is a way to celebrate pork while supporting local restaurants in need. Organizers hope to showcase the versatility and affordability of pork through this culinary challenge.
Restaurants interested in competing can sign up until June 17th on the competition website. Diners can also visit the website for details on participating restaurants and how to cast their vote during the public voting phase.
