Governor Tony Evers has announced the reappointment of Cindy Brown and the appointment of Andy Hatch to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Board, both effective May 2, 2025.
Cindy Brown, a long-time advocate for agriculture, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the board. Throughout her career, Brown has worked to highlight the health benefits of pulses by collaborating with consumer advocacy and health organizations.
Brown has also championed sustainable farming methods and played a significant role in expanding global markets for pulses by fostering exports and creating new market opportunities.
Brown has contributed to raising the profile of women in agriculture through leadership positions in several national and international trade groups.
Brown is the immediate Past-President of the Global Pulse Confederation and served as President of Chippewa Valley Bean from 2011 to 2025. She now serves as Chairman of the Board.
“Thank you to the Governor for his leadership in these appointments,” said DATCP Secretary Romanski. “Ms. Brown is engaged and knowledgeable, and I look forward to continuing to work with her on the DATCP Board.”
Andy Hatch, a Wisconsin native, studied Dairy Science at the University of Wisconsin and completed apprenticeships with renowned cheesemakers, including Gary Grossen. He also trained abroad in countries such as Norway, France, Italy, and England.
Hatch later returned to Wisconsin, where he now owns and operates Uplands Cheese in Dodgeville, producing two award-winning cheeses while managing his dairy farm.
“The Department has a positive and collaborative working relationship with the DATCP Board,” continued Secretary Romanski. “I look forward to working with Mr. Hatch through his work on the DATCP Board.”
