Dairy Signal Features Calf Health Study and Dairy Market Update

By Blake Jackson

Professional Dairy Producers (PDP) will feature two informative episodes of The Dairy Signal this week, providing dairy producers and industry professionals with valuable insights from leading researchers and market experts.

The first session, scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, will focus on new research examining how freezing colostrum affects its cellular properties and overall calf health.

The presentation will explore findings from a recent study and discuss how the results may influence future colostrum-management recommendations.

The goal is to help dairy producers strengthen calf immunity, reduce disease risks, lower antibiotic use, and enhance animal welfare practices.

The featured speaker will be Dr. Lautaro Rostoll-Cangiano, PhD, Assistant Professor of Bovine Immunology in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

On Thursday, June 4, dairy producers can gain insight into current market conditions during a presentation by Ben Buckner, Chief Grains and Dairy Analyst with AgResource Company.

Buckner update will cover dairy exports, industry trends, and other market developments that could affect dairy operations in the coming weeks and months.

Episodes of The Dairy Signal qualify for continuing education credits through Dairy AdvanCE (DACE), an online platform that helps dairy producers, students, and industry professionals track and manage continuing education units (CEUs).

Participants can earn credits by viewing sessions live or accessing recorded broadcasts.

The Dairy Signal airs every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 1:00 p.m. Central Time. Live broadcasts include opportunities for audience questions and discussion with presenters, while recordings are available shortly after each event.
