USDA Expands Farm Trade with Philippines Mission

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced a trade mission to Manila, Philippines, scheduled for April 13–16, 2026. The mission aims to increase market access for U.S. farmers, ranchers, and food producers.

This effort comes after a major trade agreement signed last year that opened new opportunities for American agricultural exports. Deputy Under Secretary Michelle Bekkering will lead the delegation, which includes 58 agribusinesses, trade organizations, and representatives from Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

Key participants include groups such as the American Egg Board, American Peanut Council, California Table Grape Commission, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council, U.S. Wheat Associates, and U.S. Livestock Genetics Export. Companies like Ocean Gold Seafoods, PacRim Wines & Spirits, Prime Pecan, and Virginia Distillery Co. are also part of the mission.

The Philippines is a fast-growing market and ranks as the tenth-largest destination for U.S. agricultural exports. Over the past five years, it has imported an average of $3.4 billion in U.S. food and farm products annually. With a population of 118 million and increasing demand for quality food, the country offers strong potential for growth.

During the mission, USDA experts will organize business meetings, market briefings, and site visits. These activities are designed to connect U.S. exporters directly with buyers and help them understand local market conditions.

“USDA is committed to getting American farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses better access to strong markets and fair opportunities abroad,” said Deputy Undersecretary Bekkering. “Since the Philippines is one of the fastest-growing markets in Asia, this mission will connect U.S. exporters directly with reliable buyers, strengthen our trade relationship, and help keep American agriculture globally competitive.”

USDA trade missions have proven successful in the past. In 2025, they linked more than 200 U.S. companies with international buyers, generating projected sales of $125 million. Future missions in 2026 are planned for Australia and Vietnam, continuing efforts to expand global trade opportunities for U.S. agriculture.
