USDA Invests $40M for Campbell’s New Water System

By Blake Jackson

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) Wisconsin State Director Andrew C. Iverson announced that USDA RD is investing nearly $40 million to support the Town of Campbell in building a new water utility system.

The funding package includes a $30,835,000 loan and an $8,540,000 grant through the USDA RD Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program.

“Every Wisconsinite deserves safe, reliable drinking water. This investment towards a dependable water utility system in the Town of Campbell will improve the lives of families and businesses in their community," Iverson said.

"Under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump and Secretary Brooke Rollins, USDA Rural Development is committed to strengthening rural Wisconsin.”

The planned system will feature two municipal water supply wells, a well house and treatment facility, a pump house, an elevated water storage tank, and roughly 123,000 linear feet of distribution piping.

The USDA RD Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program supports rural communities in developing or upgrading water and wastewater systems serving households and businesses.

Funds may be used for drinking water sourcing, treatment, storage, and distribution, as well as sewer and stormwater collection, transmission, treatment, and disposal. Solid waste collection, disposal, and closure projects are also eligible.

The program assists qualified applicants who cannot access commercial credit under reasonable terms, including most state and local governments, private nonprofits, and federally recognized Tribes. Applications for this program are accepted throughout the year.
