USDA Plan to Secure American Farmland

USDA Plan to Secure American Farmland

By Jamie Martin

The USDA has launched the National Farm Security Action Plan, a new program focused on defending U.S. farmland from foreign interference while protecting national security. The initiative links agricultural independence with military safety.

One of the plan’s most critical goals is to block farmland purchases by foreign adversaries. This includes preventing land sales to nationals from countries like China, Iran, Russia, and North Korea. Efforts also include reclaiming land already owned by such nations using presidential authority.

The issue extends beyond farming. In some cases, farmland near U.S. military installations has been purchased by foreign-linked entities. This creates dual threats—both to the national food supply and to defense infrastructure.

The USDA is working with state and federal leaders to take urgent action and ensure these lands remain under American control. The agency’s plan also supports efforts to boost food, water, and energy resilience during emergencies.

According to national officials, the ability to produce and control essential resources is a matter of national defense. Coordination between agencies ensures that American bases remain secure and self-sufficient.

“We would be asleep at the wheel if we were not fully a party to an effort like [the National Farm Security Action Plan] to ensure that our nation had the food supply it needs,” an official stated.

The plan is a step toward restoring domestic control over agriculture and ensuring military readiness. By addressing foreign ownership concerns, the USDA is reinforcing the security of America’s food systems and strategic defense zones.
