The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that it will compensate dairy farmers for 90% of the milk production value lost due to highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). This decision follows multiple discussions with the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF), which advocated for such support.
AFBF President Zippy Duvall expressed gratitude towards the USDA for responding to their request, highlighting how this assistance is vital for dairy farmers during outbreaks. The support is not only aimed at helping farmers manage financial losses but also at enhancing biosecurity measures on farms to prevent the spread of the virus.
