USPS Celebrates Tractor Day with Special Postmark

USPS Celebrates Tractor Day with Special Postmark

By Jamie Martin

The United States Postal Service will celebrate Antique Tractor Preservation Day on August 22, 2025, with a special pictorial postmark available from the Hutchinson, Kansas Post Office.

The commemorative postmark pays tribute to America's agricultural roots and the preservation of antique tractors, recognizing the impact of farm machinery on history and rural life.

This initiative supports Kansas House Legislature Resolution HR 6011, passed in March 2025, which declares August 22 as a day of annual statewide recognition. Michael Hinton, Founder of Antique Tractor Preservation Day and CEO of TalkingTractors.com, designed the unique postmark for this year’s celebration.

Pictorial postmarks are themed postal cancellations that commemorate local and national events. While they became popular in the 1950s, the USPS officially recognized them as part of first-day covers in 1961. Attendees can obtain the postmark in person at Hutchinson’s Post Office or by mail order.

To request by mail, customers must affix a First-Class Mail® stamp on an envelope or postcard, place it inside a larger envelope, and send it to:
Pictorial Postmark, TalkingTractors.com Station, 128 East 1st Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67501-9900.

All mail-in requests must be postmarked within 30 days of August 22.

“Where America’s Agriculture Heritage Resonates & Continues to Prosper for Future Generations,” says Michael Hinton, emphasizing the mission behind this growing event.

This marks the second consecutive year of USPS participation. In 2024, the Hutchinson Post Office fulfilled requests from 24 U.S. states, as well as Germany and China. The event was also featured on RFD-TV’s Market Day Report.
