Deputy Secretary of Agriculture, Xochitl Torres Small, unveiled a $19.5 million investment in three key USDA initiatives aimed at bolstering climate-smart agricultural practices, enhancing community infrastructure, and boosting economic development in rural Wisconsin areas. These initiatives are part of President Biden's commitment to rural America, fostering growth and sustainability.
The Wisconsin investments encompass:
- $11.92 million allocated for rural jobs and infrastructure through five distinct projects.
- $5 million designated to expand renewable energy access and reduce energy costs for rural communities via the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), covering 40 projects.
- $2.6 million directed towards Rural Partners Network awards, benefiting 19 projects.
These announcements align with the Investing in America agenda, underscoring the Biden-Harris Administration's profound dedication to rural America. These investments, facilitated by USDA Rural Development, extend financial support in the form of loans and grants to fortify economic opportunities, create jobs, and enhance the quality of life in rural regions. They further promote essential improvements in infrastructure, business development, housing, community facilities, and high-speed internet accessibility, particularly in rural, tribal, and economically disadvantaged areas.
