Enroll now for your Wisconsin hunter education course

Thinking about taking up hunting in Wisconsin? Don't forget to sign up for a hunter education course! With spring approaching, these courses fill up quickly, so secure your spot now.

Completing a hunter education course is not just a requirement for new hunters, but also a valuable refresher for experienced ones. Hunting incidents can involve individuals long removed from their initial safety training. Regardless of age or experience, refreshing your knowledge of firearm safety is crucial for keeping yourself and others safe in the field.

The good news is that the Wisconsin DNR offers several flexible course formats to suit your learning style and schedule:

Traditional Course: This multi-day in-person option combines lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on exercises to teach essential hunter responsibility and safety principles. Participants complete a written exam and a practical skills assessment.

Internet + Field Day: This blended approach combines online learning with an in-person field day. Students complete the online modules beforehand, then participate in a hands-on field day to reinforce their knowledge through demonstrations and practical exercises. A written exam and skills assessment are also required.

Online-Only (18+): This option caters to experienced individuals aged 18 and over. It covers the same core content as the other courses but entirely online, using modules, quizzes, and a final exam.

Completing any of these approved courses earns you a hunter education certificate, valid in all US states, Canada, and Mexico. This certificate acts as a safety credential and is mandatory for anyone born after January 1, 1973, to purchase a Wisconsin hunting license (except under specific circumstances).

So, whether you're a seasoned hunter seeking a refresher or a newcomer embarking on your hunting journey, don't delay! Enroll in a hunter education course today and ensure a safe and responsible hunting experience for yourself and everyone around you.
