Despite the tough agricultural economy, the total value of all land and buildings on farms in Wisconsin rose during the past year to an all-time high of $70 billion. According to the USDA, the average acre of cropland rose to $5,280, up 1.1 percent; with pasture values also rising by more than 1.0 percent to $2,520 per acre.
Overall, farm real estate, including land and buildings, increased seven percent to $5,190.
As of January 1, Wisconsin had a cropland rental rate of $138 per acre. Non irrigated cropland rent averaged $133.00 per acre, while irrigated fields went for $237.00. On average, pastureland in Wisconsin rented for $37.00 per acre.
U.S. farm real estate value averaged $3,380 per acre for 2021, up $22.00 from 2020 levels.
