Farm Wisconsin Offers Family Friendly Heritage Day

Farm Wisconsin Offers Family Friendly Heritage Day

By Blake Jackson

Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center will celebrate agriculture’s past and present with Heritage Day on Saturday, September 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This family-friendly event highlights the evolution of farming while offering hands-on activities and educational exhibits.

“Fall is a great time to get out and celebrate the harvest,” says Abigail Winkel, Farm Wisconsin brand manager. “Hosting this event allows us to not only focus on modern practices but also recognize how far advancements in agriculture technology have brought us.”

The east parking lot will showcase antique tractors and machinery provided by Mid Lakes Rustic Iron Club, Patz Equipment of Pound, WI, and community members. Individuals who wish to display their farming antiques receive two free admissions and can register by emailing info@farmwisconsin.org.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities across the property, including:

  • An observational live beehive from Sunset Apiaries in honor of National Honey Month.
  • Goats from Maple View Goat Farm.
  • A horsepower strength test and corn yield activity, demonstrating an agronomist’s role in harvest.
  • A corn maze, bingo, and other hands-on fall experiences.

Inside the Discovery Center, guests can explore 10,000 square feet of interactive exhibits showcasing Wisconsin’s diverse agriculture industry and the technology that drives modern farming. The Land O’Lakes Birthing Barn provides a rare opportunity to witness the live birth of a calf, connecting visitors to today’s farming practices.

The Wisconsin Café will serve a honey apple pancake special featuring Sunset Apiaries honey and Whispering Orchards apples, along with breakfast, lunch, and homemade soups made from locally sourced ingredients from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

All Heritage Day activities are included in general admission. Regular rates are $18 for adults, $14 for seniors 62 and older, and $10 for youth ages 3–18, with children 2 and younger free. Grandparents receive a $5 discount on advance online ticket purchases.
