Free farm workshops - master 2024 crop costs

By Blake Jackson

With 2024 poised for tight margins, farms in our region are facing crucial decisions about their production costs. Having a clear picture of your per-acre expenses is more important than ever. The Extension Offices of Oconto, Marinette, Shawano, and Langlade Counties are here to help!

Join fellow farmers at one of two free workshops to analyze your anticipated costs and prepare for the season ahead:

  • Wednesday, January 17th, 10:15 AM: Lena Town Hall, 6087 Goatsville Road NW, Lena (discussion starts at 10:30 AM)
  • Monday, January 22nd, 9:45 AM: Langlade County Extension Office, 1225 Langlade Road (Turn onto Flight Road, park SE corner, enter Door #7)

Workshop Highlights:

  • Collaborative Cost Analysis: Discuss and compare expected costs for various crop management practices, crop by crop.
  • Expert Guidance: Regional Crops/Soils Educator Scott Reuss will moderate the discussion and provide insights.
  • Interactive Tool: Utilize a shared Excel spreadsheet to calculate per-acre costs and revenues.
  • Personalized Estimates: Develop a realistic cost of production estimate for your key crops.
  • Take-Home Resources: Download the spreadsheet and keep track of your calculations throughout the season.

Open to all farms, no registration required! Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights, refine your budget, and confidently navigate the challenges of 2024.

All farms are invited to attend these free workshops and registration is not required.  If you have any questions, contact Scott Reuss, Regional Crops/Soils Educator, at 715-732-7510, text/call to 715-701-0966, or e-mail to scott.reuss@wisc.edu
