Wisconsin ginseng growers, it's time to cast your votes! The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is holding elections for the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin. These elected members play a vital role in the ginseng industry's success.

During the nomination period ending March 29th, 2024, three qualified candidates emerged. Wisconsin ginseng growers can now choose from:

  • Joe Heil of Edgar
  • Marcus Martin of Marathon
  • David Schumacher of Marathon

Voting Process Explained

DATCP will mail ballots to all eligible growers during the week of May 10th. If you haven't received your ballot by May 20th, contact DATCP Market Orders at DATCPMarketOrders@wisconsin.gov.

You can vote for any nominated candidates or write in another eligible producer. Completed ballots can be emailed or mailed to DATCP, Market Orders Program, PO Box 8911, Madison, WI 53708. Remember, all ballots must be postmarked by June 15th, 2024, to be counted.

The Ginseng Board of Wisconsin consists of seven elected producers who work tirelessly to support the state's ginseng industry. Elected for three-year terms, these board members oversee the collection and use of funds from ginseng grower assessments.

These funds, totaling roughly $240,000 annually, are used to support research, education, and promotion efforts to strengthen the Wisconsin ginseng industry.

Wisconsin ginseng growers have a crucial role to play in shaping the future of their industry. By participating in this election, you can help ensure strong leadership for the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin.
